That is, if I add ONE image, it would be very nice not to have to rebuild the whole gallery. But I would REALLY like to have everything done server side. MUCH more than other galleries I have seen. In other words, I love this gallery for the look and feel. I wish it worked in one of two ways: 1) Give me the option to upload from an external FTP program, and when I make changes to an album, allow me these options: 1) Make only relevant pages (no images) 2) Make and upload thumbnails for new images 3) Make and upload thumbnails/previews or 2) A PHP client that does everything server side. Additionally, I have tried using a separate FTP program, but each time I do, links are broken, and it is a mess. But I am experiencing a tough time managing everything. I love the premise of the product, love the galleries, etc. Add that to the fact that the FTP times out or crashes enough that it gets very frustrating. Even if I add only one image, my uploads are at least a gigabyte. When I want to add images, I choose to do a "smart upload", but it always makes for a HUGE upload. My gallery has roughly 12,000 images in it. Reluctantly, I have now paid to have the adverts removed but the way it has been done does leave a nasty taste and undermines what was, I thought, a very supportive community of users.ĭifficult to manage uploads, and dislike need to keep local copy While I appreciate the developes have to make a living, I would have been more supportive had an email been sent prior to the release warning of the impending change. So I immediately uninstalled it and reverted to the previous version. From version 10.9 to 10.10 jAlbum had managed to plummet from great to awful. My albums suddenly started to display intrusive adverts, completely destroying the experience of viewing a photo album. However, I was completely taken aback when I downloaded the current release. It was also one of the free products I had no hesitation in sending donations to help aid future development. It's a great product (5 stars) that just gets better with each new release. I've been using jAlbum very happily for years. Great product, shame about the unexpected adverts
